Eyewear Frame Reverse Engineering. From STL to CAD

This example showcases the reverse engineering of an eyewear frame, fully reconstructed as a parametric CAD model starting from high-resolution 3D scan data (STL mesh). The original scan was used as a geometric reference, while the entire component was rebuilt using structured CAD modelling techniques. This approach ensures clean topology, dimensional control, and full editability, making the final model suitable for manufacturing, design iteration, and product development. The resulting CAD file can be delivered in standard formats such as STEP, IGES, or Parasolid, ensuring seamless integration into any CAD-CAM workflow. The same methodology can be applied to all eyewear components, including temples, lenses, nose pads, and hinges, enabling complete digital reconstruction of complex assemblies.
