3D Macro Scanning | Small Parts & Micro Components

Using advanced 3D macro scanning with fringe projection technology, highly detailed scans of small objects are captured with exceptional accuracy. This process generates high-resolution 3D meshes (STL/OBJ), ideal for coins, jewellery, gemstones, mechanical threads, gears, sprockets, and small archaeological artefacts. The resulting data is suitable for precision measurement, inspection, reverse engineering, and digital archiving, where fine detail and geometric accuracy are critical.

Service Includes

  • STL / OBJ file generation
  • Scan data alignment (XY plane)
  • Mesh optimisation and cleaning
  • Email support

Minimum Scannable Size

Very small objects can be accurately digitised, starting from approximately 5 mm in diameter and 1.5 mm in thickness, while preserving fine geometric details.

3D Scanning Resolution

The macro scanning system delivers raw data with a point-to-point resolution of approximately 0.019 mm, enabling the capture of extremely fine features. This level of detail is particularly suited for applications in jewellery, heritage preservation, precision engineering, and micro-manufacturing.

Scanning Glossy Surfaces (Jewellery & Gemstones)

To ensure accurate data acquisition, a thin removable matte coating is applied to reflective or transparent surfaces. This allows even highly polished objects—such as gemstones and jewellery—to be scanned with precision. The coating is safely removed after scanning using a microfiber cloth, leaving the object unchanged.
